Advantage and VMware Problems

I have a customer who is running VMware. For both ADS 6.x and 7.x we
were getting 6420 errors, so we created an ADS.INI file with the IP
address and port which eliminated the 6420 error. But now we're getting
6097 errors 90%-95% of the time. I'm currently supporting over 200
installed ADS sites and have never had such a problem fixing it. The IT
techs in this company say that the IP address in the ADS.INI file is
correct and that there is no firewall intervention on the designated
server and port. And as usual I'm getting no cooperation with these
guys other that the problem is mine and I have to solve it. I have no
experience with VMware, so has anyone run into this problem and have any
suggestions as how to solve it?
