shareware registration

Hi,
I have a program and want to sell as shareware. I haven't experience in
this and want to know how to do it:

- A shareware generally has a registration function. Should I write my own?
If so, I hope someone can tell or show me some code about it.

- Should I build my own registration server to handle the user registration
process?

- What other important things I should take care of?
