Re: DBGrid with multi-line titles - Part 2

For completeness, have just finished downloading and a quick walk through of
X-DBGrid as suggested by Krztsztof. I was impressed from the very beginning
when the set-up program performed flawlessly. On completion I opened D5 and
there were the components. No hassles!
I found properties in the object inspector where I expected them (in the
main) and the visual appearance of the demo grids is as good as I am ever
going to need.
As usual, one problem - no footers, and I don't like the idea of a second
grid docked to the first for this purpose. In the later case, the horizontal
scroll bar ends up sandwiched in the 'grid' and is not at the bottom where I
would expect and, lets face it, Windows users would expect to find it.
mumble, mumble, mumble...

Now if there were a combination of X-DBGrid and DBGridEh then I would be in
seventh heaven ....

Please bear in mind that my expecations of a DBGrid are personal and may not
reflect the tastes (and logic!) of other users - in other words purely
subjective. Also bear in mind that I didn't evaluate either the Quantum or
TMS offerings as they are beyond my means (financially) so why waste time.
Unfortunately we don't all earn US$ and 400 or 500 is plenty of bucks to lay
out - especially if one doesn't earn ones living by programming (or any
money at all from this at this point in time).

I think Jason Whartons (IB Objects) idea - you don't pay for the component
until you start earning from it - is a good one but alas I suppose that not
everyone is honest in this regard (and can be immune to nag screens)...

Cheers!
