The problem with users creating reports out the blue are:
1) They bypass relationships - I got tired of explaining to a CPA why each
table didn't have ALL the information in ONE record!
2) They really don't understand what they are asking for many times.
3) Many times they bypass application security (what users have rights to).
The best solution I have come up with is allowing the user to "collect" the
data they need into a memory table, place it into a DevExpress QG 5, let
them slice it, dice it, format it, etc and then print it!
I am still going to try and do the above for my hobby program Drivers Log
when I get a chance - the last accounting system I wrote was a little on the
vanilla side, but the conecept works!
