Re: ReportBuilder 9.03 Works with D2006

Of all of the components that I own, RB is the only one where I don't
get full source code. Because of this I will not be purchasing any
more RB upgrades. DM are holding the RAP libraries as a sword over
peoples heads and forcing them to upgrade. The last two RB upgrades

The original reason for DM not providing the source to the RAP
components was that it gave them a competative edge. This is no longer
the case with all or most of their competitor providing equivilent
solutions with full source. I quote Nard on this fact:

"Unfortunately we cannot make the source code to RAP available. The
competition blatantly copies our trade secrets when this occurs. To
date no competitors have anything close to RAP or RB Server. The reason
for this is that they do not have the source code." - Jul 30 2004

One possibility is for the vendor to obfuscate their code. Without seeing
their source it is difficult to know how easy that process would be.
The product CocolCloak by Cocolsoft (www.cocolsoft.com.au) may have helped
them obfuscate their code. (I admit to having a personal stake in this
product.)
