Hi Kevin,

I understand your points, but there will only be 1 major version release
each year and all buyers who purchase a new license a few months before a
new major release (now was the case), will get their accounts upgraded to
get one more versions lifecycle for free.

For example, I've now upgraded accounts of all licensed RTC SDK and Remote
Tools users who have placed their orders between July 1st and today, since I
plan to release the next RTC SDK version in a week or two. This means that
anyone who has placed their order "a few" months before this major release,
will get next versions full lifecycle for free, plus the first next major
release (you could call this a "free beta").

The questions I'm asking myself is:
- How much is "a few" months?
- What about someone who has ordered a license 1 day before "the split"?

I.e. 12 months of tech support from date of purchase and a percentage
discounts on major upgrades. Existing users do not have to be under a
current support plan to get the discount, but discounts should only
apply for Major version x to x+1 upgrades. Not from version x to x+2.

Tech support is free for unlimited time, but only for the current version.
In other words, if you should bump into a bug while using some older
version, the first thing I would ask is to upgrade to the latest version,
since I don't see a point in maintaining multiple branches of the same
components. Naturally, if the problem also exists with the latest version,
it will be fixed ASAP and an update will be released, but only to users
having access to the current version.

As for the upgrade policy, since there will not be more than 1 major update
per year, in case someone keeps using the oldest version, I won't mind
offering him the same upgrade price as if he was using the last version
before the current one. Btw ... my 50% discount offer on RTC Remote Tools
for licensed RemoteOffice users is still open. Also, if someone should
decide to "go for it" only after RTC Remote Tools 3.0 are released (or even
later), I will still be happy to give them the 50% discount.
