Text files to database

I have data in some text files. 9 fields 1 on each line. eg time date etc.

I need to import this data into MYSQL tables.

The text files are contained within a directory with sub directories of the
main directory. eg data\user1 data\user2 etc.

How do I step through all the directories and read the data within the text
files.
