I have received an answer from Candice Jones, saying in essence that what Studio does that Express does not is support customization of a lot of stuff that Express hardwires to some kind of default. E.g. the web media blocks can be controlled a lot more in detail, re. content and location.
I'll hold off with more info until I've had time to test the InstallAware demo. My requirements are, in short:
- Support VB 6 projects that access an Access DB via ADO/JET.
- Support preinstallation of the required MSI version.
- Enable me to create both a Swedish setup and an English one, possibly as one package where the user can select language.
- Support silent installation.
- Support easy web deployment on a simple web server with no extra plugins or what not.
- We publish an update (a new DB) every month. Our customers will most of the time not update every month, but ad hoc. So, the installer has to support upgrades from any one out of SEVERAL old versions.
- Preferably, one single installer should support both upgrade and fresh installation, autodetecting what to do.
- Support uninstallation of course, and it has to be clean even if multiple upgrades have been installed on top of each other.
- Preferably support on demand download, i.e. download only what's needed. If the client already has JET installed, then don't download it.
I think I can do all this with Studio, but I'm going to test if it can be done in a satisfactory way with Express.

If you don't mind I would appreciate if you could share with me what
you find out. And if you don't mind sharing, what requirements do you
have that makes you need Studio over Developer or Express?
I had asked if the Express Version supported/integrated with tools such
as Final Builder and the answer was yes. I wasn't sure if it did
because there chart "Which Edition is for you" does not have a check
for Command Line Build Tools. Candice Jones answered my question as
well and was very prompt.
