Re: ZIP Component

Pretty sure that Abbrevia, from TurboPower (now to be found on
SourceForge) will do all of that. Certainly the password, the good rate,
the ability to set a working directory elsewhere, the progress events, and
the fact that it's free.

Have a look on SourceForge for Abbrevia, I'm sure you'll find it suitable.

(I've used it a few times in various projects)

Hi

I am currently using SFS from AidAim to archive some database files in
my app but would like to replace it with a ZIP style archiver.

My criteria are:

Must work with BCB6
The file can be uncompressed from a read only medium
Has good compression rate without being overly slow
Can be password protected
Preferably can include a comment so that I can add a bit of info such
as version of db schema, user who created archive (I could just place a
file in there but a comment holder would be great and presumably faster
than having to open and decompress a file just to read the comment)
Provides events so that I can show progress
Can archive files that may already be open in share mode (i.e. doesn't
need exclusive access)
Preferably with ability to have some sort of corruption recovery
Not too expensive (or free would be good)

Hope someone can recommend something

Best regards
