It's not hardwired to "C:"; it's to whatever your %systemdrive% is.
That is, if both %APPDATA% and %PROGRAMFILES% are on another drive,
then that's where the "pollution" will go...

I was horrified how long the installation took - to me it's still a
compiler, and IDE, and a set of components.....
