PostgreSQL is becoming more and more popular and I think someday it will eclipse MySQL as the most popular open source database. It's already the most advanced and the upcoming version 8.3 will further solidify it's position.
Just make sure you make it native against libpq.dll and that it fully supports notifications(I.E. have a notification event for the database connection component).
