I tried to use tortoise, couldn't understand it.
do you know any tutorials to go with it?
Tortoise has a large help file, which I spent a lot of time reading.
I do use Tortoise and the whole thing is stable and reliable. However, there are moments when my mind goes blank and its too hard. Especially when I am tired. For example, what *precisely* happens during a merge? When I can't remember the details and have to ponder the help file again and sometimes then I'm not totally certain.
The issue is my murky understanding of the underlying Subversion system. I think Subversion is poorly documented - "The Red Book" http://svnbook.red-bean.com/ which explains Subversion is not much help. Plus Subverson in a sense is not a VCS - it is a system which performs a task which happens to be useful for a VCS when applied carefully, and that adds a layer of confusion.
I use Tortoise / Subversion because it is the only program which meets all my requirements - GUI, industial strength, multi-user, internet accessible, free.
