As you are the Delphi-PostgreSQL man, have you ever thinked about realizing yourself
a dbexpress driver for PostgreSQL, particularly now that, based on what Codegear says,
it's more simple to write a dbexpress driver with Delphi itself????

I think this could have a huge interest in the delphi community.....

(I know there's already such a driver, but... the more the better <g> )



I would love to see that, but I don't think I could do it myself as I don't know anything about dbexpress and honestly don't have the time, but it would be a great open source project if there where people with dbexpress component development experience interested in helping out.

Such a project would also need someone with low level experience working with libpq.dll functions or the line protocol would have to be implemented natively in delphi using Synapse or similar for the transport.


I would like to see CodeGear provide a pgsql dbexpress driver as it's the second most popular open source database and rising.

I think CodeGear could do one pretty easily as they provided one with Kylix, there is no reason they could not update that code and release it for win32/.net.
