Go to Seagates site and grab DiscWizard. Its a free cut down version of the
Acronis DriveImage stuff.
Also get a external usb drive case that suits the drive you will be changing
to i.e. IDE or SATA and use the software to simply copy from one to the
other. Then place the new drive into your computer and you will be away.
I have done 3 laptops like this recently with no problems. I always use
seagate drives but the last one I reused a drive and did a non seagate drive
to a non seagate drive which I thought discwizard wouldn't allow and it
still worked fine. ( this one's operating system was even SBS 2003 which is
not on diskwizards compatability list but still was OK )

Hello,
I would like to change my too short hard drive disk (80GB) on my laptop to
a bigger one like Hitachi Travelstar 200GB 2.5" and I wonder how I could
be do this without any installation setup from Microsoft Vista, delphi,
third party toolbox etc...
Is there a way to do this ? Make an hard drive image from my "old" disk to
put it on my new hard drive disk ? Then switch my 2 hard drive on my
laptop and restart it on this new hard drive like a dream ? If yes, by
which tool software ?
Thanks for your tips.
Cheers,
Laurent
