Sorry, didn't make myself clear enough. I can re-install XP and Ofiice 2007
from the Cds but one still has to activate these products. If one tries (I
believe) to install on 'new' equipment, even if it is just a fairly minor
change to the current PC system - like a HD - then windows detects a change
in hardware and one cannot activate these programs via the web.
As far as MS is concerned the OEM programs must be used 'as is' on the PC on
which they were installed - even if the equipment fails, such as the
motherboard. One cannot install on another PC and activate.
A change in the MB or the HD is outside the scope of MS OEM license.
If one makes a copy to another HD then this could be a possible misuse and
proliferation of the MS software - i.e. making unlawful copies. Which is why
I queried that this is possible.
