Hallo!
I have been using devexpress components for years now ...started 199x ... cannot remember. Support was always excellent ... good documention ... good samples ... sometimes to many properties:-)... Especially since the time when Mark Miller ... and some other Delphi experts joined devexpress they started to deliver excellence in my opinion. They are absolutely reliable. They have shipped stable releases for years now.
I have never had big problems, the components were always easy to integrate ... Some things have changed... the developement is consistent, the installation process is simplified enormous in the meanwhile. I use them under win32 delphi and the und VS their opposite product.
Express Web Framework was good, it is still there. But in case if you are going to develop Web Apps in pascal give Morfik WebOS a try. This is really a major step, in my personal opinion.
Your choice to choose one of the big packs is ok. Having to combine different specialized one is not easy ... in the end you end up in non visual development and are far away from RAD...
TMS is little different. Offers lots of components sometimes come up with completly interesting plug and play solutions. It is a pack for everything. I have 2 compontents I have used some times a ago...cannot complain ... but when you have all of them installed I think you need a company to evalute them in detail.
Devexpress on the other hand is extremly progressive with their Application Framework under .net.
If you go for business (ERP related) stuff I have the feeling that devexpress is the one you will prefer at the end but it is the adult league.

Hi.
I'm about to buy some really big VCL component pack.
I need: good DBGrid with tree capabilities, automatic docking, sophisticated
toolbars (may be ribbon), possibly IntraWeb add-ons.
DevExpress looks more advanced but there were some information that
DevExpress abandons all the VCL business and focuses on .NET only. Is it
true? What about upgrades, including forthcoming UTF-enabled Tiburon?
Thanks.
Maxim.
