Sounds like Mike Skolnick's bailiwick.The SMImport and SMWord suites have this functionality.
The new file formats for MS Excel and MS Word are supported there (as
reader).
Also OpenOffice files (documents and spreadsheets) are supported there too
But what is an advantage to generate these files which can be opened in new
MS Office 2007 only? As I understand, to generate the standard xls/doc files
which can be opened in any MS Office (including MS Office 2007) is much
better solution
