Michael,
RemObjects Software is pleased to announce the immediate availability
of the first AnyDAC 2.0 release - build 2.0.1.
Would this allow someone to directly connect to database tables on a
website from a delphi program?
my website is run by a hosting company and I can create sql server
databases. So, can directly hit those tables?
As (the other) Marc mentioned, that would depend on the firewall settings of your hoster - if they have the database open to the outside, then yes.
That said, for the kind of scenario you are describing, i would recommend going for a multi-tier solution like Data Abstract, where the database itself is not directly exposed publicly, and data is accessed thru a middle tier server you provide.
(see http://remobjects.com?wp01 for our whitepaper on benefits of multi-tier architecture)
Yours,
