Can anybody reccomend a good Delphi compatible library that will perform 7-zip compression to/from a stream. I'm currently using a proprietry compression library for blob compression in a database app but the much higher compression ration from 7-zip would reduce the database size considerably, speeding up nightly backups.

I believe the JCL does that. You will need to use a daily version as this feature has been added after the last public release. However, Florent and I are planning a release of the JCL and JVCL which will include these changes and others.
