Re: Berg NextGrid - Experiences/Problems ?

I've read here before how some developers like Berg's NextGrid
component, so I thought I would give the latest version a try.

While there are many nice things about this lightweight grid, I'm
running into problems (bugs) with very basic operations.

Considering that development appears to have been active over the last
several years, it seems to me that these problems would have surfaced
and been cleaned-up ages ago.

I'm not referring to perhaps esoteric, rarely used features. These
issues are with basic, built-in, "no-code" features, like data input
and grid navigation via the keyboard.

I'm interested in hearing what others have to say about the gird.
While vendor support is important, I'm mainly concerned with the
quality of the product as it stands today.

What kind of issues or bugs are you referring to ? I'd be very interested to know:

I was facing a choice when upgrading to D2007 from D6: upgrade the (very bloated and expensive in /MY/ opinion although I fully accept that other may feel otherwise) devexpress's suite or go for what I found to be the very fast, lightweight and pretty inexpensive Bergsoft's suite of comps.

I did not regret my choice for several reasons:

- overall (very) good quality
- support fast and friendly
- source code easy to read and understand so if an issue arises, it is often very easy to get to the problem and suggest a fix. (I have never been able to do that with my former grid, some developer tend to over engineer because they can). In other words, yes it's a small team, but the code provided is simple enough to carry on working should anything bad happen to Boki. This was a major push for my decision.

I have several products now in the wild using this comp suite and grid, totally about 150 users and when there are bugs, they are very (too? :) often mine, not bergsoft's. I have also converted one of my clients for his in-house devs, and he seems pretty happy with it too.

Again, just my opinion.
