Mike,
Do I like having to re-up for paying for subscriptions? No. I work for a company as well as my own stuff.
That being said... TMS / Bruno is very clear on their business model in terms of subscription for access for downloads and for direct technical support or use of their private newsgroup for those on subscription. I had looked at TMS for a few years before aquiring their components and knew of that based on their website.
The renewal price was realistic. Do I wish it was cheaper.... sure. Do I wish the Dollar to Euro ratio was flipped like it was when I started... sure.
As mentioned, DevExpress runs a similar subscription model. So do several others.
While you may not work for a company... guess what.. They are a company and in general have employees they need to get money for their paychecks as well as try to grow their company. That's the real world.

After your hidden or unknown license expire, you will NOT be able to get any updates or access any newsgroups p2p
you will stuck with what you have till you pay complete price again (rip-off)
