ANN: NexusDB AWE Server Trial now available

NexusDB Server AWE edition brings you the possibilities of 64-bit
computing to your Win-32 or Win-64 operating system NOW! It breaks the
dreaded 2 GB barrier and can use all the memory (that your operating
system has access to) for your database server.

We've now made a trial version of the AWE server.

Installer download:

p

Please use this key at installation (expires July 1st 2008):

After the trial period you will need to either extend the trial (can be
done on the same machine ONCE for another 30 day period; please mail us
for a special extension key), upgraded to a full license (see below for
licensing details) or replaced with the standard server again. There
are NO other limitations to this versions.

You can FREELY distribute that download and key to your customers, just
make them aware that this is a time limited version

The NexusDB AWE edition is a normal win-32 executable that runs on any
recent Windows OS. When present in the OS, it will make use of AWE
(address windowing extensions) APIs that allow the process to access
all the RAM in the machine. You could for instance run NexusDB Server
AWE edition on a 16 gigabytes RAM, 8 core server, and dedicate 12
gigabytes of RAM to the database server. Your customer will be able to
make full use of their powerful hardware.

The best part of the NexusDB Serer AWE edition is that it is a drop-in
replacement for our normal NexusDB Database Server. You do not have to
change your NexusDB client applications; all you need to do is have
your client install the AWE edition of the server.

Licensing of the NexusDB Server AWE edition is per machine. This model
has been chosen so that you, the developer, can recoup the cost of the
license from your client, or even to allow the client to upgrade the
backend of your application on their own.

The license cost is $1000.- for single licenses, volume rebates are
available on request.

You can order the AWE edition NOW at:
http://www.nexusdb.com/showpage.asp?Id=89

Or alternatively reply to this message with full name or company name to
request a time limited trial version and key.

We trust that this version will help you to stay in front of your
competitors by allowing you to make use of all the available hardware
resources instead of being restricted by current technology. Don't live
in the past; 640Kb isn't even enough for Mum's shopping list and 2Gb
hardly for your movies collection. ;)

***Note***

In order to use AWE, there is a special windows account privilege that
needs to be turned on.

Go to control panel | Administrative Tools | Local Security Policy |
Local policies | User Right Assignment. On the right-hand side, you'll
have a list of policies; find the one named "Lock pages in memory".
Doubleclick it, and add the user account that nxServer runs under.
Reboot the machine. Now, manually setting the nxServer's Server Engine
setting "Max RAM" to something like 10000
(the setting is in MB) should use all the assigned RAM (if you have
large enough data tables ;)).
