I think learning is as complex a system as the weather. There are too many
human factors involved to point a finger at any one thing and say "that's
the key". At the moment, competition seems to be a major factor for my son
and his friends. Last week, the friend who got the lowest grade on a
particular exam had to buy popcorn for everyone when they went to the
movies. Other times, he just thinks something is cool, so he WANTS to learn
it. But, most of the time, there's a certain amount of pride involved in
doing well. If he transfers that to his chosen career, he'll be very happy.
