I'm not sure if this is quite relevant to this group, but I could do
with some advice regarding Delphi and DirectX please.
I want to write 2D games with Delphi and DirectX. I have used DelphiX
with Delphi but I'd like to learn how to write the DirectX stuff
properly myself.
I'm not interested in anything 3D and that's where I'm getting a
little confused.
I downloaded Microsoft's DirectX SDK 9 and everything is of course 3D
related (and not Delphi of course).
I thought I wanted to use DirectDraw and not Direct3D? Or do you still
use Direct3D and ignore anything 3D related?? The SDK seems to suggest
that DirectDraw is no longer used and that's where I'm getting a
little confused.
Where should I start??! As I said, I only want to write 2D games like
I've been doing with DelphiX (but using the latest DirectX so I
understand what I'm doing).
Could someone explain what I need or suggest any tutorials that are
suitable just for 2D stuff but making use of the latest DirectX?
Many thanks!
