Yes, it is loaded into the computer from where you activated it through the shortcut click. 

Ehm, did you try that?
It should stop to run, because windows loads EXEs partially, and
fails if the EXE gets inaccessible while the app is running.
At least thats the way it worked with floppys ;-)
