Thank you for these other options. What we have is a password screen,
a splash screen that does some configuration checking in the
background, and then the main application screen. When I look at the
code, I think "wow. There's *got* to be a better way." You guys here
have helped me see the other possibilities.
I do have experience in other languages, as well as configuring various
things (like playing with Linux). So while I appreciate the warning
about the dpr file, I'm not incautious when it comes to editing things.
One of the things that originally attracted me to programming when I
was a kid was the power of getting the computer to do exactly what I
wanted it to do. Experience since then has taught me the value of not
rushing blindly in and editing things :-)
I have been working with Delphi for about 6 months, mostly learning it
from reading the existing code (which was mostly written by people who
were also learning as they went along), and also look at the help
files. I only recently discovered the news groups, so now I'm able to
ask the questions that I couldn't find answers to in the help. I'm
learning a lot, and my understanding of the Delphi paradigm has
deepened considerably.
