I suppose what I wanted was something similar to the OnClickDoNothing event
that exists in Java.

The options that your explanation presents to the user are what I want to
implement. Give them the option to save any unsaved work and then exit or
abandon the unsaved work and exit anyway. I have come up with a similar
procedure when the user exit from the program in 'the usual way' but I
couldn't see how to adjust the exit procedure to account for clicking on the
top red box!! I'll experiment and get back to the group and let you know how
I get on.
