Not yet !
I am working with Delphi 6.

Uuhh, I haven't got D6.
I can only try to compare to D5.

I open the Menu "Component" and I find:
- New component
- Install component
- Import ActiveX ..

- create component template (disabled)

- Install packages
- Configure palette

Almost the same in D5

Opening "Install component" gets me into a panel with two pages: Into
existing package / Into new package, where I am supposed to indicate the
unit file name, etc. I think this is not the one relevant to our problem.

correct. You use that to re-install your component, not to delete it.

Opening "Install packages" gets me into a panel with a list of Design
packages. Underneath there is an Edit button which is only enabled in one
case.

Ok. The frame around the box seems to read "Design packages"
I translated wrong "Runtime packages", which is the opposite.

And I wrote "borland user components",
which is the only one, where the edit Button is enabled.

This list shows names (*.bpl) that resemble those on the palette , but
they are not one to one, and the "Template" page where I stored my frame
is
not there.
I don't see a list of runtime package.

Come on, some more info. We are almost there !

Hi,

open menu "components" - "install packages".
select the runtime package "borland user components"
(or the one you installed your frame to)
and click the edit button.

.... go on here

Confirm to change to *.dpk

I meant "go to *.dpk"

Click remove.
Select your unit and click ok.
Compile the *.dpk
Then your component palette should be clean again.
