I fully agree with this sentiment but note that with the new monitors
at work (2x1280x1024), I actually reneged on it. There was _so much_
space next to the standard 80 columns that I went to 100 columns
_and_ put the Code Explorer back in. Reserving the full width for
code was simply overkill; it would not be used in most lines, and
readability would suffer in the few.

I code on 1280x1024 (single monitor) with just the standard toolbar and the
code editor open - using an 8pt font, of course. I find that there's plenty
of room for comments this way, whilst still maintaining readability (for me,
most of you would probably run in horror).
