OT: Vista programs don't run on XP

How comes that a Vista program (Robocopy.exe) looks like a Win32 application, disassembles as a Win32 application, but when startet under XP gives: ... is not a valid Win32 application?
I'd understand a message like "requires Vista", based on some flags or version requirements in the PE header, but ...?
