I try to find a manual for "Delphi for PHP" or a tutorial.
I purchased Delphi for PHP last autumn. I choose to buy the more
expensive "Box/CD" distribution. I was waiting to get at least some kind
of printed manual with this kind distribution but I got none. Not a
single page.
All right, I thought this is the modern way to save paper and rain
forests. Embargadero/Codegear folks have just put the manuals on the
distribution CD in PDF format. I can grab them from there, and maybe
print some 50 first tutorial pages on my laser printer.
But again, no. There is no Delphi for PHP manual on the distribution CD
either.
The only PDF there was is some stupid 11 pages long Adobe Acrobat
labeled nonsense PDF-brochure telling something like: "What is PDF and
how you can use PDF-format for archiving purposes." Borland had its
flaws with lacking documentation, but this new Embargadero style is
ridiculous.
AFAIK the most close to the official Delphi for PHP manual is this in
here:
http://www.qadram.com/vcl4php/docwiki/index.php/Main_Page
That seems to be some kind of Wikipedia style manual. Any registered
user can write what they have discovered with Delphi for PHP, how you
probably could use it.
The "Getting started" section is one page long:
http://www.qadram.com/vcl4php/docwiki/index.php/Developer%27s_Guide_::_Getting_Started
And after that page, you are quite ready to jump anywhere on this rich
Wikipedia-manual and start writing your Delphi for PHP applications.
You can't print this kind of web-stuff on the paper, and make you a
traditional booklet with index. Nothing that you could read in bus or in
bed, or underline anything. No manual that you could tear in pieces when
the same compiler message pops up 15th time.
Maybe someone (?) likes this kind of documentation very much, but I do
not like it all.
I newer was able to cross the Delphi for PHP threshold. Currently my
whole Delphi for PHP 2.0 gathers dust in the bookshelf.
