    My Mistake;

    I think your implementation of VARYING_STRING is more than sufficient.

    The bottom line is many of us (well at least my friend and I) would
    like to have a correct and speedy implementation of VARYING_STRING
    (preferbably native implementation of ISO_VARYING_STRING -- But
    compiler developers don't do that except NAS ) --
