I thought about this some more and I think I remember once encountering a
problem with this. I solved it by copying the files from /usr/X11R6 on
another Mac. Those files, in turn, probably date back to a time before
Apple's X11.app became available and originated from a separate
installation of XDarwin that I once obtained from www.xdarwin.org.
As I said, it's been a while since I looked at this. Looking again at
what's in fink, I notice there is a package called fix-apple-x11. I
don't have it installed, myself, but if nothing else works, you might try
installing that.
