VMS Specialties?

Hi all,
could anyone here suggest some fine book or - even better - URL where
I can find out more about the VMS specialties? My latest finding is
something like

OK = MYFUNC(%DESCR('ART'))

where %DESCR is marked by the newer Intel compiler:

Error: %DESCR is a VMS only feature

Does a survey exist about all those specialties? Maybe with some hints
about how they can be replaced for the new Intel compiler?
