Thanks to those of you who kindly posted replies to my thread! Mr.
Andrew Smith, one of the "group members" listed under "administrators"
in the "general discussion" group within http://forums.silverfrost.com/
kindly replied to my posting there that Salford Fortran '95 for Windows
(FTN95) Personal Edition can run in a Cygwin shell, but doesn't support
Cray pointers. Mr. Andy Vaught kindly took the time to write to me in
an e-mail letter that for g95 Fortran his priority is understandably to
get the standard things in Fortran working first; the non-standard item
of Cray pointers he might not implement in g95 Fortran. Referring to
Joost's posting, what is Intel IIRC Fortran? Is it the same as Intel
Visual Fortran Compiler for Windows 8.1 or something else? On the
Intel Fortran I just mentioned, for Mr. Steve Lionel you mentioned free
and non-commercial version of the Intel Fortran. I found the
evaluation version, which I think is free for 30 days, but so far,
assuming it is different, haven't found the free and non-commercial
version that I hope is free indefinitely. First of all, is the free
and non-commercial version different from the evaluation version? If
so, can it be used indefinitely for free for personal and
non-commercial use? If so, where and how does one obtain the free and
non-commercial version of Intel Visual Fortran Compiler for Windows
8.1? Does the Intel Visual Fortran Compiler for Windows 8.1 support
Cray pointers? Also for Mr. Stevel Lionel you mentioned that it would
be good to avoid the -xN and -xP options on a computer with an
AdvancedMicro Devices (AMD) processor, but instead use the -xW option
in the Intel Visual Fortran Compiler for Windows 8.1. I noticed that
you listed -xP twice. In your posting did you mean to include a third
option to avoid on AMD-based computers in place of one of your two
listings of the -xP option? Or was that simply a mistake of listing
the -xP option twice as one to avoid? I really appreciate those of you
who take the time to post helpful comments! Thanks!

Pat
