Yes, tried to do that, of course, but, as you said, it won't work without the MS IDE. Strangely enough, the compiler won't even run from the command line. Perhaps, there might be a way to integrate it with the IDE of CVF, but I don't know how. (Anybody know if that's possible?)
The Intel compiler also depends on some parts of MS Visual Studio other than the IDE -- my recollection is that it depends on the linker or something of that nature.
The command-line parts of MS Visual Studio that are needed for Intel Fortran are available from MS as a no-cost download, though I don't remember the URL offhand. With these, one can use the compiler in command-line mode without having to install Visual Studio.
