For algorithms try "Numerical Recipes in Fortran, 2nd ed."
(preface says examples are in ANSI FORTRAN-77)

I think NR has since moved to -90, so this may be out of print ..
but I think it's on the web somewhere
Utilizations ? - just read this NG for a while - it's used
(by discriminating programmers) for everything.
