The difference between "publicly available" and "public"
seems to be understood by everyone but members of the
committee. If you have sex on the fifty yard line of the
largest sports stadium on the planet at high noon with all
the doors open and the parking lot freely accessible and
no one is watching it's *not* a public act. Wasn't there
a basic plot point in the "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"
about this very issue?

Yes, but the SEP generator caused me to ignore it. ;-)

With the size of the language already quite large, new features
should only be considered if there's popular (almost universal)
demand. There should at least be *very* public debate on each
possible new feature *before* the committee even takes it up
in any *official* way.
We had a number of visitors, who gave presentations,
at our February meeting.

The number of Fortran users is in the millions. A percent
of that number exceeds 10,000. Have you any evidence that
the committee's machinations are known to even a percent
of the concerned population? How about *approved* (much
less demanded) by even a percent of the concerned population?
No?

And the number of Fortran programmers (or anyone else)
who has been denied entrance to a J3 meeting is ... ?

Quick, when and where is the next meeting?
