If you think it's important, come argue your case.

How? The rules of the committee prohibit the introduction
of new features at this time. Most of my activities these days
are uncompensated so I have to avoid taking on additional
*expensive* (and, in this case, guaranteed unproductive)
uncompensated activities. I do have to eat as well you know.

In any case, I think it's more productive at this time to
argue my case in a more widely viewed forum. If the
Fortran committee doesn't listen, there are other languages.
At least I'll have planted the idea in a wide variety of
minds.
