Usually you need switches to get just a compile.
I disagree; usually you do NOT need switches.
Apparently you're a Windows user; there's not much point arguing about
whether "usually" should mean the Unix/Linux or the Windows
convention. Is it really true that Windows compilers other than
Microsoft F77 work that way?
