It does suggest that the installation was not successful. The
compiler installs under the path /opt/intel/fc/9.1.xxx/ The
ifortvars.sh (and .csh) files are in a bin folder under that. You use
"source" to make the definitions available to you. The installation
guide and release notes, provided along with the compiler (and in the
unpacked tar.gz file) describe all of this. I strongly suggest you
read these.
Please also make sure that your Linux system includes the compat-
lobstdc++ component which is required by the Intel compilers.
Lastly, I'll comment that there are far too many Linux distros and
versions out there, all of them different and with their own
incompatibilities. We document the set of distro versions we test on
and try to give guidance as to the glibc and kernel versions we think
will work, but do not consider it a "bug" to be "fixed" if some
unlisted distro or version does not work. We're glad to get reports
of these and, if there seem to be enough users asking, will see what
we can do. New versions of already supported distros (such as SuSE
Linux) are generally considered automatically, but it can be a while
before adjustments can be made.
