Another missing one would be Apple's MPW (Mac Programmer's Workbench)
except it is now one of the dearly departeds. However there is a new
system modelled on its style called Eddie. It is for both MacOsX and
Gnome on Linux. The price is right at zero. For full info visit

I had found MPW to be a nice solution to a GUI frontend to a Unix
style system once I got past the moderate front end learning phase.
It did not survive the transition to MacOsX. I was pleasantly surprised
to see Eddie explicily modelled on MPW. What I liked was the sensible use
of multiple windows and the full and easy access to the command history.
The use of both MacOsX and Gnome as the hosts was a real bonus.
