in my file when I write them using write(outunit,'(I6,E15.3)') i,x
When I plot them to the screen, everything is fine.

Compiler is gfortan, system is Debian Lenny if this is necessary.

Please post the smallest example program that reproduces your problem.
Otherwise it is pointless to guess what might be the problem.
