Yes. But your case is a lot like the case of the man
who visits his doctor with headaches -- "it hurts when
I do this" <banging his head with a hammer>.

The usual punchline has the doctor saying "DON'T DO THAT"

There are common coding errors which lead to problems,
often difficult to diagnose problems, because the error
and the manifestation of the error are far removed in
time, space or both.

Mismatched subroutine declarations and invocations are
a classic case within this set of errors.

Continuing to run a program with such mismatches is
effectively hitting oneself on the head with a hammer.

While it is possible not to shout in response, it is
very difficult to not shout.

The actual level of shouting that has been directed toward
you is quite low in comparison to what you would likely
get in many other arenas, e.g., comp.lang.c.
