My solution was to request if one is modifying existing code, stick to the
style of the original code. For new code, use whatever case-style you
want.
Though it depends on whether you want your modifications to stand out or
blend in. That will vary from case to case. There are times when it is
nice to have your modifications clearly stand out; in such cases, if
your preferred style is different enough from the existing one (for
example, if the existing code is all caps, which would sure contrast a
lot with my current style), that can serve the purpose.
