gcc is a pain in the ass on Windows and not very good anywhere.

Now for some real excitement, install Hercules on Windows and MVS 3.8J
underneath that. Then you'll have a brand spanking new FORTRAN IV compiler
(possibly 2, G and H) and you'll be right back in 1974 again! If it won't
compile on that setup, it just won't compile!
