ImageCraft announces the Ultimate Code Compression (tm) technology -
after years of fine-tuning our code compressor technology in the
ImageCraft compilers, we have discovered the ultimate simple, yet
ingenious, solution. By combining the Static Single Assignments
augmented by Earley's Backtracking Parsing, we were able to reduce most
programs to a single 16-bit integer. This significantly reduces the size
of the microcontroller requirements.
Richard Man, the Technical Director of ImageCraft, is quoted as saying:
"Instead of moving to the 16- bit or 32-bit CPU core, engineers can now
make do with a single SRAM cell. I predict there will be a huge
consolidation in the CPU industry. The beauty of this is that the CPU
core can be second sourced from anybody!" Richard Stallman, from the
Free Software Foundation, is alleged to have replied: "Wow, I wish I
have thought of that."
Not to be outdone, ImageCraft's competitors have been heard muttering
"we can squeeze it down to 13 bits, just give us time!" Our response:
"Yeeeeaaaaahhhh, riiiiiigghht."
