I haven't worked with that combination, so my suggestions are general.

1. Check for any app notes that discuss migration from the J1 to the J5.
2. Check the data sheets for differences. There might be some
configuration registers that you need to set up.
3. See if you can get any help from Motorola support.
4. Rent/borrow a development board.
5. If these don't help, run a simple test program to toggle an output.
If that runs, start adding your program logic to find the problem.
Unfortunately, that will probably take several hits with your OTP stash.
