Not necessarily. In small markets that can happen. I often work in
ultrasound and more than once a seemingly wacky idea was presented in a
meeting. First silence, then 'huh?', finally 'duh!', and from then on it
became 'state-of-the-art' or whatever.
You may be right, motor power intake alone might not be precise enough
in this case. But it can't hurt to take some measurements, as long as
electrical safety is minded.
