That one's a misconception. Most PDAs go to just as heavy a power-up
boot sequence as a full-fledged PC --- their advantage is that the
power essentially never does go down in PDAs. That's what they have
batteries for, and also why they can remind you of meeting times even
if they're supposedly "off".
